Mattress Firm, Inc., one of the nation’s leading specialty mattress retailers, announced it will open a store in Brookfield, Wisconsin at 19165 Bluemound Road. This is one of 10 stores planned for the state in 2010. The company opened its first store in Pleasant Prairie on February 1. This is part of an effort to accelerate the company’s extensive turnkey franchise program that is unparalleled in the bedding industry. Chuck Dawson, a former senior executive at Sealy, is the franchisee responsible for developing the Milwaukee and Madison-area markets. Mattress Firm currently operates more than 500 stores in 38 markets across 21 states. With the new Wisconsin stores, Mattress Firm will expand to 40 markets in 22 states.

“We are pleased to bring Mattress Firm’s unique shopping experience to Wisconsin,” Dawson said. “Our Comfort by Color and body-mapping technology is unmatched in this market, which will make shopping for a mattress easier and more affordable.”

In addition to offering the best names in bedding, including Sealy, Simmons and Tempur-Pedic, the company will also offer its own Mattress Firm Direct products. In an effort to support the local market, Mattress Firm’s private label will be manufactured in Watertown, Wis. through Symbol Mattress Company.

Ribbon Cutting and Non-Profit Partnership

Mattress Firm will celebrate its Brookfield store opening with a ribbon cutting on Wednesday, March 3 at 11 a.m. The store is located at 19165 Bluemound Road.

As part of its commitment to becoming involved with and giving back to the local community, Mattress Firm is donating mattresses, sheets and pillows to Hebron House of Hospitality and The Women’s Center, Inc., both serving Waukesha County. Hebron House, which provides emergency housing and related services to people in transition, will use the bedding for its new shelter, scheduled to open in August. The Women’s Center provides safety and support to women and their families, and will use the bedding for its Sister House Shelter, and transitional living apartments and homes.

“Both the Hebron House and Women’s Center provide important services to Waukesha County residents,” Dawson said. “We are happy to partner with these organizations so they can continue supporting those who have nowhere else to turn for help.”

Mattress Firm is the only retailer offering Sleep to Live products and its specialized body-mapping technology in the Milwaukee and Madison markets. The Sleep to Live Experience will be available at all of the Wisconsin locations. Using Sleep to Live Diagnostics, customers answer a few a questions and lie on the diagnostic test bed. The system uses 18 statistical measurements and over 1,000 calculations to determine the sleep surface that will deliver the best in postural support and pressure relief for all body types. In addition to the Sleep to Live Diagnostics, Mattress Firm also offers My Side Technology, in which the sleep experts analyze optimum surface pressure and postural support so consumers and their partners can stay in one position longer for a deeper night’s sleep.

The Brookfield store will also incorporate the standard Mattress Firm layout, featuring a combination of wood flooring, ceramic tile and carpet throughout the store. Artwork and natural wood fixtures accented by a warm color palette create a comfortable, home-like look and feel. The “racetrack” floor plan allows customers to easily move throughout the store to browse and compare the different styles and brands, which are arranged by comfort level (pillow top, plush, firm), features (memory foam, air, latex) and price. The new stores will also offer the company’s “Red Carpet” same-day delivery service, along with comfort satisfaction and price guarantees.

Mattress Firm’s new approach to mattress shopping, Comfort by Color™, will also be incorporated into the Brookfield location. Developed to help prevent the confusion that can often result from a traditional mattress shopping experience, Comfort by Color simplifies the buying process and encourages comparison shopping by assigning specific colors to different comfort levels of mattresses. The color coding system includes the full range of options, spanning Firm (Yellow), Plush (Orange), Pillow Top (Red), Contoured (Green) and Personalized (Blue), and makes it easier for consumers to choose the mattress that is right for their individual needs. Mattress Firm’s Comfort by Color system also allows consumers to compare comfort across all major brands – from Sealy® and Simmons® to specialty mattresses and bedding products from Tempur-Pedic® and Sleep to Live® – against one another.
