Among this year's special screenings at the Ottawa International Animation Festival (OIAF), which runs from October 20-24, 2010, is "Furniture of My Mind," an engaging look at the relationship between humans and their furniture.  Curated by noted New York animator, George Griffin, the screening brings our everyday furniture to life as ironic, comic, adversarial, maligned, and even sex-crazed actors.

“Furniture is the stuff with which we fill up our living and working spaces. It’s the functional, material culture, integral components for our ‘machine for living’ yet often take for granted,” said Griffin.  “The furnished room can display complex indications of status and taste, or it can be generic, sterile, and institutional.  From gag cartoons to introspective meditations on the relationship between humans and their intimate environments, there is a tortuous lineage of great films being shown during our special screenings.”

Among the films screening in "Furniture of My Mind" are: Moving Day by Walt Disney featuring Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck; Furniture Love by Oscar winner, Bill Plympton; Roof Sex by PES; Oscar nominee, Luxo Jr. by John Lasseter (Pixar); and 1974 Oscar winner, Frank Film by Frank and Caroline Mouris.
