The American Society of Furniture Designers (ASFD) is announced the launch of its 2010/11 Academic Scholarship/Design Competition for design students with an interest in furniture design.

The contest is open to junior and senior level college students enrolled in an accredited design program.  Students are challenged to design a production-friendly cocktail table to be judged by professional furniture designers.  Entries will be judged on presentation, creativity, use of materials, aesthetics and feasibility of manufacturing.  The winning entry will be prototyped by the Phillips Collection (http://www.phillipscollection.com), a leading manufacturer of high-end contemporary furnishings, and prominently displayed in their showroom during the Spring High Point Market in April 2011.   The contest winners will be invited to attend the ASFD Spring Market dinner where they will be presented and awarded cash prizes from ASFD.
