"What's been happening here over the last few days is unbelievable,” chief exectutive officer of Koelnmesse Gerald Böse stated, and his result is extremely positive: "We have all become part of a success story called imm cologne and LivingKitchen.“

With about 138,000 visitors from 130 countries the attendance grew by respectable 38 percent. The number of visitors from EU Member States increased by 25 percent, of visitors from eastern Europe even by 44 percent. Not least because of the high amount of decision-makers among the trade fair visitors the exhibitors did brilliant business and are enthusiastic if not euphoric. "It was by far the best furniture fair we've had in the last 10 years: more visitors, more contracts signed and an excellent mood,“ resumes Dirk-Uwe Klaas, Chief Executive of the Association of the German Furniture Industry.

A large attendance and a huge internationality

1,213 companies from 48 countries exhibited in Cologne, foreign companies accounted for 59 percent of the exhibitors. About 100,000 products – one third of them being novelties – guaranteed a unique overview of what the international interior and kitchen industry have to offer. The fascinating novelties, current trends and inspiring displays stimulated the demand. Here, every buyer could find the perfect selection for his or her clientele. The Cologne interior design show is the undisputed trends barometer and trigger for the trade.

The end-users made well use of the extension of the fair’s public days to a total of three; they not only collected information with regard to planned purchases, but because of the huge abundance of interior ideas they also found inspiration for further furnishing plans. The media coverage was huge, and the extremely positive reports made visitors positively rush in throughout the public days.

A week full of design highlights

Brilliant examples for inspiring and target-group-specific showcasing have been the innovative Pure Village and the new exhibition format Pure Textile. At the last one, editeurs of exquisite textiles presented their creations in a very atmospheric, excellently designed exhibition. Pure Village, launched in 2010, united top brands from all areas of the interior design sector in an impressive exhibition architecture. An ideal extension had been the integration of the newcomer events [D³] Contest und [D³] Professionals where young designers presented their fascinating concepts.

Perfect premiere: the Cologne kitchen show

The LivingKitchen premiere showed that the concept to present the whole spectrum of kitchen design comprising kitchen units and appliances as well as sinks and fittings, worktops, lighting solutions and accessories struck home. Not least, the high-class supporting program, too, accounted for the huge attractiveness of the format. Unquestionably, LivingKitchen has what it takes to become the internationally leading kitchen fair.

Members of the industry can read up on some of the highlights in the hitguide, the Contract Business Guide, the [D³] Design talents catalogue or at www.imm-cologne.com and www.livingkitchen-cologne.com. The interior trends 2011 are introduced online in the Trendbook 2011; a printed version of the book can be ordered for € 50, plus postage and packing.
