Nowell's Contemporary Furniture Announces Results of Fundraising Effort

Nowell’s Contemporary Furniture in Cary, NC has announced that the store’s recent Fund to Fight Multiple Myeloma campaign brought in $2575, which will be presented to Duke Medicine for multiple myeloma research.
 
Nowell’s launched its Fund to Fight Multiple Myeloma fundraiser and awareness campaign in early December of 2010, a few months after the store’s owner, Jerry Nowell, was diagnosed with this particular cancer of the white blood cells.
 
To raise funds, the store held an online auction of furniture from Nowell’s that had been used on NBC 17’s “My Carolina Today” set, and offered customers a $200 discount on sales of Ekornes Stressless Recliners when they donated $50 to the Fund. Jerry Nowell also matched dollar-for-dollar any in-store donations made outside of those two efforts (no purchase necessary).
 
“We were overwhelmed with the level of both financial and moral support,” said Nowell. “My heartfelt thanks go out to everyone who gave so generously.”
 
All contributions to the Nowell’s Fund To Fight Multiple Myeloma will directly benefit multiple myeloma research at the Duke Medical Center, where on-going work raises hope that emerging therapies may make this a manageable disease and, ultimately, lead to a cure.
