The INTERNATIONAL FURNITURE FAIR in Cologne will be shining again: home lighting will round off the range at the fair in January 2001. Lighting is presented every two years in Cologne - in each case, in the uneven years. There is already a great demand for exhibition space on the part of the German and foreign suppliers of home lighting. The lighting presentation at the INTERNATIONAL FURNITURE FAIR from 15th to 21st January 2001 will follow on from the spectacular premiere at the fair in 1999: with around 240 suppliers, including the top names in lighting design, the "Lighting Centre" at the INTERNATIONAL FURNITURE FAIR immediately established itself as one of the leading trade fairs for lighting in Europe. The parallel presentation of home furniture and lighting was enthusiastically received by the exhibitors and the trade visitors - from the furniture and furnishings sector and the lighting specialist trade. Within the scope of the INTERNATIONAL FURNITURE FAIR 2001, the prize-winning designs from Nachlux - Young talent competition for innovative lighting design - will be presented and the prizes awarded as was the case in 1999. The 2001 competition will once again focus on a theme from the area of home furnishings. Alternating with the "Lighting Centre" (in the uneven years), in the even years, as scheduled, the manufacturers of kitchen and bathroom furniture show their ranges in Cologne - as they did very successfully in January 2000 - when a wide range of innovations was presented in the "Kitchen & Bathroom Centre" at the INTERNATIONAL FURNITURE FAIR. Top marks from exhibitors and visitors The INTERNATIONAL FURNITURE FAIR from 17 th to 23 rd January 2000 was characterized by good, in some cases, very good business. The range of 1,542 exhibitors from 47 countries was brought together with the demand of over 145,000 visitors, including around 35,000 end-consumers, on the two days open to the general public. The successful business at this year's INTERNATIONAL FURNITURE FAIR is reflected in an exhibitor and visitor survey, which was conducted during the fair by a market research institute: around 65 percent of the exhibitors assessed their success at the fair as very good or good. The visitors were also positive in their assessment of the INTERNATIONAL FURNITURE FAIR 2000: around 75 percent of respondents assessed the success of their visit to the fair as very good or good. For most of the sector experts, Cologne is an annual must, as the survey shows: 85 percent of this year's visitors have already firmly planned the next INTERNATIONAL FURNITURE FAIR and also the one after that in their business calendars. Seven trade fair days, two of them also open to end-consumers The INTERNATIONAL FURNITURE FAIR 2001 in Cologne will be exclusively open to trade visitors from Monday, 15th to Friday, 19th January 2001. On the last two days of the fair - Saturday, 20th and Sunday, 21st January - end-consumers will also be admitted.
