Founded in 1954, Thunderbird Furniture of Scottsdale, a manufacturer of quality bedroom furniture, was recently purchased by Ghelfi Capital Investments L.L.C. The sale was effective December 31, 1999. The company's new name is now Thunderbird Furniture L.L.C. Under the new ownership, Thunderbird Furniture L.L.C. has renewed its commitment to quality products and customer service. According to Bruce Mansfield, general manager, this commitment will be evident immediately. "Customer service will be a cornerstone of our new philosophy," Mansfield said. "While we have always prided ourselves on providing quality products to our customers, our new ownership, as well as our current management and staff, are committed not only to our customers but to their customers as well." In addition to a reorganization of the 75,000-square-foot manufacturing facility and an increase in production capabilities, other changes include the creation of new staff positions and development of new marketing materials. Through its dealer network, Thunderbird Furniture L.L.C. posted sales in excess of $5.5 million in 1999 and expects an increase to $8 million in the upcoming year.
