Las Vegas Mayor Oscar Goodman and members of the Las Vegas City Council unanimously voted to approve plans for the first phase of World Market Center SM– a one-million square-foot permanent home furnishings showroom and design center complex. According to the developers of World Market Center SM, this decision is not only a milestone in the evolution of this new major home furnishings market, but also for economic diversification of the region as a whole. World Market Center SM will be soon releasing the results of an economic and fiscal impact study revealing significant economic benefits for Las Vegas and the region. "We’re happy to see by their official votes that the City of Las Vegas is fully behind our project and we look forward to the rapid leasing and development of our project," said Jack Kashani, a managing partner of the project. "It’s very exciting that World Market Center SM is moving ahead on schedule and that we are accomplishing our goal of developing this project for the benefit of Las Vegas and the industry. Our state-of-the-art complex will play an important role in the on-going plans of Las Vegas and State of Nevada for attracting new major industries and businesses," said Shawn Samson, another managing partner.
