Hansine Pedersen Goran, owner and designer of Current Carpets was awarded today her second Platinum ADEX Award for Design Excellence. Her winning carpet design, “Tsunami” is a thirty foot running wave-shaped carpet in midnight blue. “Goran’s commitment to excellence is to be commended. The creative embodiment of her commitment is an inspiration to connoisseurs of fine design everywhere” said John Moses Executive Director of the ADEX Awards and the international Design Journal publication for interior designers and architects. Goran who designed and hand tufted “Tsunami” prior to the actual tsunami crisis, is donating thirty percent of each “Tsunami” carpet sold to tsunami relief efforts. Working from a contemporary studio and gallery with an inspirational view of the Pacific Ocean, Hansine Pedersen Goran is a rarity in the business of carpet design. One of only a small handful of people in the United States creating custom hand-tufted contemporary carpets, Goran’s pieces blend the traditional values of old-world craftsmanship with the crisp clean lines of modern design. While most designers limit clients to a predetermined set of options, Goran’s carpets are available in 85 colors, 252 shades, and five pile types. In addition, she designs non-traditional shapes and sizes that are ideal for contemporary architectural spaces. Goran’s carpets are shipped worldwide in six to eight weeks, compared to the 16-20 weeks required for most other hand-tufted carpets that are typically made outside the United States. Goran’s carpets are hand-tufted to her specifications by her third-generation hand tufting atelier. She is the only contemporary carpet designer to use licensed Wools of New Zealand, the highest quality of wool labeled as “Fernmark.” This lanolin-rich wool is considered “the wool standard of excellence” and comes from a healthy ecological system in which workers earn a living wage shearing free-range sheep. Emmy Award winning Broken Sound Productions innovative new series Weekend Makeover will air February 9, 2005 on WETV featuring Current Carpets. “Current Carpets owner Hansine Pedersen Goran was extremely instrumental in helping us modernize a family room in the show’s first makeover project. As you’ll see, her suggestions were right on target” says producer David Warm. Goran’s carpets and interior designs have been featured in numerous magazine and newspaper articles around the country. The majority of her clients come through her state-of-the-art web site at www.currentcarpets.com. She credits her success to providing clients with unique contemporary design, museum quality craftsmanship, creative color and texture options and personal service. As an ASID Industry Partner, Goran also works with interior designers and architects around the world. She has a permanent showroom at her gallery in Gualala adjoining The Sea Ranch.
