Kincaid, one of the nation's largest manufacturers of solid wood furniture, recently launched a new consumer Web site (kincaidfurniture.com) designed to showcase its entire furniture line and provide resources that allow visitors to design the rooms of their dreams. In addition to offering a "dealer locator" feature for consumers, the site also links to a dealer extranet, from which product photography and marketing materials may be downloaded. "We created our new site to be both welcoming and easy to navigate for all of our customers,"said Todd Hady, vice president of sales and marketing for Kincaid. "The site replicates the experience of shopping at a Kincaid Home Furnishings store or an in-store gallery - from visuals of fully accessorized room vignettes to an interactive design center that invites visitors to experiment with different furniture layouts in 'virtual' rooms." Our Furniture Line The "Our Furniture Line" section of the Web site allows consumers to browse Kincaid's complete line of bedroom, living room, dining room, home entertainment, home office, occasional and upholstered furniture. Full-color photos feature each Kincaid item in a completely outfitted vignette, so that consumers can visualize how the furniture might look in their own homes or draw inspiration from rooms that appeal to their own personal tastes. After clicking on a specific piece of furniture, consumers are provided with product details - including dimensions - and suggestions for matching items. For instance, if a consumer selects a bannister bed, he or she will also be shown photos of a complementary dresser, mirror, chest and armoire. Design Center In the "Design Center," consumers will find the type of personalized design assistance they would receive at any Kincaid Home Furnishings store or in-store gallery. A "Design Tips" section provides practical advice on how to incorporate the latest home décor trends into their family rooms, dining rooms or bedrooms. Consumers are guided step-by-step through the process of selecting the best colors, textures and fabrics to best accent any type of furnishings. With the "Room Layout Tool," users can unleash their creativity and virtually furnish entire living rooms, dining rooms or bedrooms. After entering the width and length of a particular room, each user is provided a grid on which they may drag icons that represent a variety of furniture - such as sofas, love seats, chaises, writing desks, entertainment centers and settees for a living room. Users may resize, rotate or duplicate icons as they experiment with ideal layouts. After creating a perfectly furnished room, the completed grid can be printed and brought to any Kincaid Home Furnishings store or in-store gallery to make the shopping experience quicker and easier. Other Features After browsing Kincaid's product line and designing a room layout, consumers may locate nearby Kincaid dealers by entering their ZIP codes on the Web site's homepage. And once a purchase has been made, the "Product Care" section offers simple instructions for maintaining a "just purchased" look on solid wood and leather items - as well as complete warranty information. "Our new Web site truly embodies qualities that are closely associated with Kincaid - comfort, quality, style and function," said Hady. "We feel that consumers will find time spent on the site to be both inspirational and educational, and that they will be compelled to visit Kincaid dealers." Headquartered in Hudson, N.C., Kincaid is the nation's largest manufacturer of solid wood furniture and a subsidiary of La-Z-Boy Incorporated, one of the nation's largest furniture manufacturers and marketers. Founded by George and J. Wade Kincaid in 1946, Kincaid has grown to include more than 20 owner-operated stores and 140 in-store galleries across the country. High quality standards and design innovation continue to be the company's trademarks.
