Retailer Sleep Country USA Launches "Princess And The Pea" Contest

Sleep Country USA, the Northwest's largest seller of premium mattresses, announced the launch of its new "Princess and the Pea" event, which will mark the opening of new Sleep Country USA stores in the Pacific Northwest. Sleep Country USA's "Princess and the Pea" event is based on the original story by Hans Christian Andersen in which a prince attempts to determine if a late night visitor to his castle is a true princess by placing a pea under the 20 mattresses she sleeps upon. In the morning, the girl confesses she did not sleep well because the bed was uncomfortable and therefore proves that she is a true princess because she is sensitive enough to have felt the presence of the pea. During the event, community members will be invited to visit the new Sleep Country USA store to guess which mattress on the showroom floor is lying on top of a "pea." Participants will write their guess on a ticket and drop it in a designated box before the store closes, at which time the contest will be officially over. Selected winners will win a $1,000 Sleep Country USA gift certificate, which will be delivered to their home by a Sleep Country USA truck that evening. At that time, they will also be crowned Prince or Princess of the land! Sleep Country USA's "Princess and the Pea" contest will be first introduced on Feb. 19th at the company's newly opened Everett, Wash., store located at 1130 SE Everett Mall Way. One week later on Feb. 26th, the company will execute the contest again in Oregon to celebrate the opening of its store in Orenco Station, located at 7198 NE Cornell Road in Hillsboro, Ore. Contest hours will be set according to the selected store's normal business hours.
