Kane’s Furniture announced the grand opening of its newest store in Lakeland, Fla. on February 10, 2006. The 60,000 square foot store, including a warehouse and office space, is located at 4685 US 98 North. This opening marks the addition of the 18th store to Kane’s family of furniture stores and the first in Polk County. “We are very excited to have this beautiful new store to bridge the gap between our Orlando and Tampa/Brandon markets,” said Kane’s Furniture’s Chief Operating Officer Steve Giordano. “Lakeland is already the home to many fine furniture retailers, and we believe we will successfully compete for our share of the business.” Carlos Gonzalez will move from Kane’s Furniture’s Casselberry store, outside of Orlando, to open the Lakeland store. In Casselberry, Gonzalez produced an unbroken string of sales victories. Fifty associates will work in the new Lakeland store. “This is the best of the new Kane’s,” said Gonzalez. “It truly underscores the point to our customers that if you have not seen our new Lakeland store, ‘You Ain’t Seen Nothin’ Yet.’ ” According to the U.S. Department of Commerce, consumer spending in 2004 for furniture and bedding rose 8.6% from spending in 2003 to $77.9 billion. Lakeland, the principal city in Polk County, is located approximately 55 miles west of Orlando and 36 miles east of Tampa. According to the Lakeland Economic Development Council, the city is estimated to grow by more than 6.5% by 2009. Kane’s believes this data is good news and hopes to serve the growing furniture needs of the community of Lakeland. Kane’s Furniture showrooms offer a kaleidoscope of today’s most popular colors, styles and textures. Buyers scour the markets daily for the best values in furniture and bedding. In addition to the values found in the United States, Kane’s Furniture’s buyers travel the world over in search of imports that provide even greater savings to their customers. Their collections include furniture from the Philippines, Taiwan, Italy, Canada and China. Kane’s Furniture has a rich 57-year history in Florida and $35 million in inventory. Kane’s Furniture’s 17 current store locations comprise more than one million square feet of furniture retail space in eight major Central Florida markets, including Tampa, St. Petersburg, Sarasota, Port Charlotte, Ocala, Melbourne, Ft. Myers and Orlando.
