The National Geographic Provence Collection and Côte d’Azur Collection will premiere at High Point International Home Furnishings Market April 27-May 3. Society explorers and photographers have spent decades discovering and photographing the way of life along the Mediterranean coast. The National Geographic Provence Home Collection combines classic silhouettes with 18th-century world charm. Rustic paint finishes reflect the region’s vibrant hues and bring to life the simplicity of the French countryside. Among the many new pieces for this collection is the National Geographic Leather Bed from Lane. Originally used in 17th- and 18th-century chair construction, the wingchair bed design is firmly rooted in French tradition. Brass-finished, nail-head trim and hand-carved, solid-wood scrollwork are unique embellishments that conform to the style of the period. The National Geographic Côte d’Azur Home Collection is reminiscent of the 19th-century Louis-Philippe furniture style. Classic and symmetrical pieces blend with rich, vivid colors and soothing neutrals to capture the luxury and refined sophistication of the French Riviera. The Côte d’Azur Rug by Sphinx is an elegant illustration of the Louis-Philippe style. Hand-crafted from 100 percent wool, the rug features exquisite design and detail, with updated coloration and shading. Its traditional romantic design evokes the style of Savonnerie tapestries from centuries past. National Geographic’s commitment to exploration, conservation and education is core to all the Society’s endeavors. National Geographic’s net proceeds from the Home Collection are dedicated to the Society’s World Cultures Fund, which supports the study and preservation of world cultures.
