Oskar Huber Furniture engaged leading strategic design firm GRID2 International to create a new façade for its soon to be five-store furniture retail operation located in Pennsylvania and New Jersey. GRID2’s design features a dramatic two-story, glass-enclosed atrium, brightly colored awnings, and the prominent display of Oskar Huber’s store brand name. The first location to display the updated entrance is Lawrenceville, NJ, a former Good’s furniture store, which is approximately 50,000 square feet in size. An October completion date is projected for construction, to coincide with the store opening. “We’re growing and successfully addressing the competition by aggressively promoting in our markets,” says Ron Huber, co-president, Oskar Huber. ”Attracting consumers to our stores is critical, and we think GRID2’s high-impact design for our stores is one very effective way to do that.” The exposed two-story showroom acts like a beacon of light to passersby, says Martin Roberts, president, GRID2 International. “Our experience with retail stores demonstrates time and again that first impressions create lasting impressions with customers,” adds Roberts. “A storefront is the retailer’s best opportunity to convey what they’re about and to attract their target audience.” Plans are in place to retrofit Oskar Huber’s four existing locations in Valley Forge, PA; Southampton, PA, where the company is headquartered; Cherry Hill, NJ; and Ship Bottom, NJ, with the new storefront design.
