For the first time, Brazilian companies displayed their furniture at the the recent July edition of the Las Vegas Market. Sixteen companies from Brazil shared a 6,900 square feet space in the Las Vegas Convention Center from July 25th to 28th. The participation was made possible due to a project called Brazilian Furniture, co-sponsored by APEX-Brazil (Trade and Investment Promotion Agency) and ABIMAD. Eight members of the Brazilian Contemporary Furniture & Home Décor Manufacturers Association – ABIMAD exhibited in Las Vegas at the Brazilian Furniture Showroom. This edition of Las Vegas Market had nearly 1,500 exhibitors carrying all furniture lines. According to Mr. Tiago Lecey, ABIMAD’s Foreign Trade Analyst, the Brazilian participation in the fair was a success even before the market opening since the show’s website helped with the booking of meetings between exhibitors and potential buyers. “The whole structure was great, we’ve got excellent traffic in the showroom and the good lighting in the Brazilian space helped us to show the colors and the beauty of Brazilian products”, he said. The United States is the main importer of Brazilian furniture, being responsible for 40% of all Brazilian furniture exports. In general, Brazilian furniture exports have been showing rapid growth, toping US $1 billion in 2005. ABIMAD 2007 TRADE SHOW - While the companies were showing their products, ABIMAD promoted its own Fair, ABIMAD 2007 – Brazilian Contemporary Furniture & Home Décor Exhibition, which will take place 8-12 February in the city of Sao Paulo, Brazil. During the last ABIMAD show, held in February 2006, nearly 10,000 people visited the fair, including 350 international buyers from over 50 countries.
