ASID –IL To Present Design Excellence Awards

The American Society of Interior Designers – Illinois Chapter (ASID-IL) and i4 design magazine will host the third annual "Celebration of Design" Gala at Chicago's Merchandise Mart on Thursday, Oct. 19, 2006, at 7 p.m. in the 8th-floor Atrium. Open to all facets of the design trade, the Gala's theme is Bal Masque (masked ball) and will feature a champagne reception, gourmet dinner and awards ceremony. More than 400 guests are expected to attend this black-tie-optional entertaining affair. The winners of the "Design Excellence Awards" will be unmasked at the Gala. The awards competition is open to ASID Illinois members, International Interior Design Association Illinois members (IIDA-IL) and registered interior designers in the State of Illinois. Jointly presented by ASID-IL and i4 design magazine, the third annual Design Excellence Awards received more than 60 entries this year. Designers submitted their entries in more than 20 residential, contract and product design categories, including: singular residential space, kitchen, bath, historic restoration, showcase room, tile design, corporate offices, retail, hospitality, green design, universal design, furnishings and fixtures. A panel of distinguished interior design professionals from out of state are in the process of reviewing the entries and will select category winners. Presenting sponsors of the awards include Chicago Tile Institute, International Masonry Institute, Lakeview Distributors (distributors of the Viking and Zephyr lines). All winning entries will be published in a private-label magazine that will be mailed to ASID and IIDA members after the Gala. This ASID magazine is distributed throughout the year at special events held by the ASID Illinois Chapter.
