Bernie & Phyl’s Furniture Announces "Ugly Sofa" Winner

Bernie & Phyl’s Furniture recently conducted an “Ugly Sofa” contest with the winner getting a new sofa of their choice from Bernie & Phyl’s. Contestants had to submit a photo of their “ugly sofa” and write a short essay explaining why they should win. After reviewing over 70 entries, Bernie & Phyl’s awarded the prize to Debra Ann Libuda, of Auburn, who wrote in part, “The sofa is in my family room where the kids and I watch TV. Some nights my kids say it’s easier not to watch TV with me because the sofa is uncomfortable and itchy.” Libuda came to the Bernie & Phyl’s Westboro store with her children, Kayla and Benjamin, to choose her new sofa. Bernie & Phyl’s Furniture is one of the largest furniture retailers in New England. In 2002, the company was named “Retailer of the Year” by the National Home Furnishings Association, which is the highest honor in the retail home furnishings industry.
