Growth of online shopping site Retailbuyers.com has encouraged the Canadian-based group to expand its services to retailers by creating a companion site called RetailerToRetailer. Now retailers who have overstock merchandise will have another avenue by which to sell their products. By joining RetailerToRetailer, retailers have the opportunity to purchase merchandise at or below wholesale cost directly from other retailers who may have experienced slow sales, have discontinued select merchandise, or simply have excess inventory in their warehouse. The format for RetailerToRetailer is the same as for the Retailbuyers.com site, in which registration includes a monthly hosting fee of $4.95, allowing the seller the ability to list unlimited product information with photography. Retailbuyers.com receives a small commission on orders shipped. Registration is open to any retailer of home furnishings, gifts and decorative accessories, accents, rugs or other home décor products across North America. Launched in early 2005, the company initially began by providing services only to the CGTA giftware suppliers in Canada. Today, the web site is dedicated to providing a unique wholesale shopping experience for home furnishings and gift retailers throughout North America to purchase suppliers’ overstock, clearance, and discontinued merchandise. Founder and CEO Deborah Lalande, herself a past retailer as the owner of a furniture and gift store, says the idea came after talking with several furniture retailers. “Many of them have huge amounts of excess inventory taking up warehouse space and tying up their cash flow.” RetailerToRetailer went live in early July and Lalande believes retailers will respond positively to this new online marketing opportunity. She will be promoting the new site during the upcoming Las Vegas Market in Space S1163 of the Sands Expo and Convention Center.
