Paul Maxwell, American Artist To Speak At Las Vegas Design Center

Las Vegas Design Center, located within World Market Center serving the interior design and hospitality contract industries, will present a comprehensive exhibition of paintings and sculptures in a variety of media with Paul Maxwell, American Artist, on Friday, October 5, 2007. Born in Arkansas, Paul Maxwell is a painter, sculptor, print maker, conceptual artist and creator of functional art forms. A short film entitled "Through a Veil of Knowledge - The Legacy of Paul Maxwell," will showcase the artist’s illustrious career. Maxwell will explain his views on “The Importance of Art in an Architectural Environment.” In addition, he plans to lend an Australian flavor to his comments when discussing the “Australian Images Project” and his experiences in Australia in 1988 that affected his work and direction. Maxwell’s talk will take place from 10 a.m. to 12 noon on the 16th floor at 495 South Grand Central Parkway in Las Vegas as part of the Las Vegas Design Center’s monthly “First Friday” program. A not-to-be missed shopping day for local and out-of-market design professionals, “First Friday” at Las Vegas Design Center features educational opportunities, unique showroom specials, hospitality and other exclusive offerings for the trade. Las Vegas Design Center will also display Maxwell’s art during and after the seminar in a showroom. The November 2, 2007 First Friday will highlight “LEED for Homes: The Importance of Building (or Remodeling) Green” with Charlie Popeck, president of Green Ideas Environmental Building Consultants. Popeck is one of the first people to be accredited by the U.S. Green Building Council as a LEED® Professional. Popeck’s talk will take place starting at 10 a.m. at the World View on the 16th Floor of World Market Center’s Building B.
