While taping in New England, the popular ABC TV show, Extreme Makeover: Home Edition (EMHE), joined with Worcester-based Rotmans Furniture and Carpet to help furnish the show's latest home makeover in MANCHESTER, NEW HAMPSHIRE for a loving close-knit family whose home was demolished after a devastating flood. The episode will air on Sunday, January 27 from 8 to 10 p.m. (Eastern). Because ABC had too much fantastic footage, the network has expanded the usual one-hour show to two hours. As Extreme Makeover: Home Edition (EMHE) compiled the needs of its New England project, the show's design producer learned of Rotmans, New England's largest furniture and carpet store. Eager to lend a hand, Rotmans agreed to donate furniture and accessories for the project. EMHE needed a houseful of beautiful home furnishings for a great room, a dining room, three youth bedrooms with specific themes, and a master bedroom. EMHE also required accent furniture for the foyer and hallways plus accessories for throughout the home. Armed with a load of blueprints, plans and paint and fabric samples, EMHE set up a makeshift command post in Rotmans' sprawling location in Worcester and began the task of making selections. EMHE Design Team shopped Rotmans' 250,000-square-foot showroom with the help of Store Manager Joe Quintal. After making several additional visits to the store, Lewis and her team had made all of the selections and trucked them to the project site. "It was easy to find the general direction of the project area as the whole neighborhood was aglow with constructions lights. A sea of volunteers donning blue t-shirts as well as police and security were everywhere,” Quintal said. "When I reached the work site, it was truly amazing! Flooded in light, was a three-story structure with people hanging out of every possible opening and taking in lifts of supplies. There were easily 150 craftsmen working elbow to elbow, rushing to get the job done in time. All the while, this incredible, can-do, positive spirit permeated the whole environment.” A team of Rotmans associates helped with the unloading and moving in of the new furniture at the project site. "The excitement in the air was contagious,” said Rotmans Art Director Maureen Sanderson, one of the team members. "There were so many volunteers all ready to help this family make a fresh start. It was truly a heart-warming experience that I will never forget.” Rotmans and its associates are proud to be part of this Extreme Makeover: Home Edition episode. Tune in to your local ABC affiliate on Sunday, January 27 from 8 to 10 p.m. (Eastern) to watch the family's story and see them reveal the fantastic results of their home's extreme makeover.
