Architectural Digest Home Design Show Scheduled For March In NYC

The organizers of the seventh annual Architectural Digest Home Design Show announced that the show will be returning to New York City’s Pier 94 March 6-9, 2008, and will feature home furnishings from nearly 300 exhibitors. The annual four-day Show, open to the public Friday to Sunday with an interior design trade and VIP consumer preview on Thursday, will comprise more than 110,000-sq.ft. of display space, and be shopped by designers and consumers for the latest in home furnishings and accessories. The Architectural Digest Home Design Show also offers complimentary designer consultations, special exhibits and educational seminars led by industry leaders in the design world. Last year, the event—the only consumer show of its kind in the U.S.— attracted more than 23,000 over the course of four days. Produced by Merchandise Mart Properties, Inc. (MMPI) and co-sponsored by The New York Times, the Architectural Digest Home Design Show covers a broad range of home design categories, from furniture to art & antiques, kitchen and bath products to flooring, wall coverings, lighting and more. 2008 exhibitors include: California Closets, Christopher Peacock Cabinetry, George Smith, Henry Hall Designs, Hülsta/Rolfbenz Studio, Ligne Roset, Lincoln, Niedermaier, Roche Bobois, Stark, Tucker Robbins, Terlato Family Vineyards, Tufenkian, TurboChef, Viking and hundreds more. The Show will commence with an Opening Party Thursday, March 6, to benefit The Alpha Workshops, the only not-for-profit organization in the United States that trains and employs people living with HIV/AIDS in the field of decorative arts. Other Show features and events include (new features are denoted by asterisks): - The AD 100 Pavilion: Three members of the prestigious AD 100 showcase their work in this first time centerpiece of the Show: Geoffrey Bradfield, Mario Buatta and Joanne de Guardiola. - MADE: A new gallery featuring one-of-a-kind and limited edition contemporary accessories and furnishings available for sale at the Show. Renowned artists include Wendell Castle, Ron Kent, Pamela Sunday, Jamie Harris, Brad Sells, Solinglass Studio, Tony Kenway Furniture and Studio Roper, among others. - Complimentary Design Consultations: Designers are available Friday-Sunday for one-on-one 20-minute consultations with attendees to offer expert advice and the experience of working with a professional designer. Last year, 800 attendees took advantage of this exciting Show element to discuss their personal design dilemmas. - Design Seminars Educational Programming: Ranging from the popular design-for-small-spaces seminar and color to new advances in kitchen design, The New York Times Seminars inspire consumers to learn more. Seminar panelists include Darryl Carter, Jamie Drake, Paul Mathieu, Michael Tavano and many more. - Culinary Demonstrations: Celebrity chefs present cooking demonstrations, samplings wine pairings and wine sampling from Terlato in this high-style, high-tech demonstration kitchen presented by TurboChef. - Sponsors: TurboChef, Restoration Hardware, HomePortfolio, Lincoln and Interiors from Spain.
