The fledgling Design Green Alliance made its premiere at the Las Vegas Market, Jan. 29 to Feb. 1, unveiling the concept of a “green” pavilion of 27 sustainable manufacturers, accounting for over 13,000 square feet of show space. Called the Living Green Pavilion, the exhibit presented a united front of sustainability while creating a unique destination for buyers. “Our goal was to establish a credible green presence at Market for the first time in the furniture industry,” said Tim Loveday, founder of Design Green Alliance. To celebrate the debut, Design Green Alliance hosted a reception at the chic TABU Ultra Lounge in the MGM Grand Las Vegas. More than 100 manufacturers gathered to toast the success of the Living Green Pavilion and to discuss the future. By all accounts, the effort was a success, as exhibitors, buyers and media noted the positive atmosphere of the Pavilion. “Even exhibitors from other halls claimed it was the place to be,” added Loveday. Manufacturers were also pleased with the quality of traffic the Pavilion delivered. Some companies said they wrote more orders by noon of the opening day than they did during all of the last market. Loveday says the future is bright for the Design Green Alliance and the Living Green Pavilion. He is negotiating with World Market Center to move the Pavilion to a more high-profile location, leading to greater traffic and visibility for member manufacturers. “These are small to medium-sized manufacturers,” said Loveday. “We want to expose them to buyers and connect them to sales channels they otherwise might not have the opportunity to access.” For more information about the Design Green Alliance, manufacturers can visit www.designgreenalliance.com or call Tim Loveday at (760) 444-0142 or tim@designgreeenalliance.com.
