Slumberland Furniture Aids Midwest Tornado and Flood Victims

Slumberland Furniture announced that it is partnering with local charities and relief organizations to help families affected by recent natural disasters in the Midwest. Several store locations are providing new beds to victims who have experienced extensive damage to their homes or lost them altogether. In conjunction with the Red Cross, Slumberland is donating beds to families who lost their homes in the tornado that touched down in Hugo, Minn., on May 25. In Cedar Rapids, Iowa, where approximately 9,000 people have been evacuated, the local Slumberland store is partnering with the Partnership for Safe Families organization to donate beds to flood victims. Additionally, La-Z-Boy recliners were given to people who were "medically fragile" according to Slumberland Cedar Rapids store manager Chad Klinkenborg. The store also brought in pallets of water to distribute to local residents. Efforts are being coordinated in Des Moines, Iowa, where beds will be donated through Lutheran Services.
