From beach music to bluegrass, the Carolinas are famous for a rich musical legacy that continues to grow and thrive today. This Fall, the High Point Market announced that it plans to honor that heritage by presenting two of the region’s top drawing groups—Superglide and The Band of Gold. The homegrown favorites join a roster of superstar talent that includes KC & The Sunshine Band, Peter Frampton and JoDee Messina. Superglide, known locally as the Carolinas’ favorite American band, is a powerhouse quintet with “vocals that will blow you away,” according to Doug Daniel, principal, Daniel Entertainment Group. “Their unique approach to the hits of the ‘70s, ‘80s and today put the fun and excitement back in live music.” The Band of Gold, meanwhile, is a favorite at festivals throughout the Southeast. Featuring six seasoned performers with a song list that stretches from the ‘50s through every decade of rock music, soul, R&B, funk, disco and beach music, the Band of Gold epitomizes Southern hospitality and takes the stage with one purpose in mind: a great time for everyone at the party. Along with the region’s best, the Stars Under the Stars series—opening at Fall Market on Monday evening, October 20, 2008—features a trio of superstars, beginning with KC & The Sunshine Band. The Grammy-winning disco group—responsible for the sale of some 75 million records including “That’s the Way (I Like It),” “(Shake, Shake, Shake) Shake Your Booty,” and “Get Down Tonight,”—will get Market-goers moving to the hottest dance hits of ‘70s. Meanwhile, Peter Frampton, one of the biggest rock superstars of the era, will show Market-goers the way on Tuesday evening, October, 21st, while country superstar Jo-Dee Messina will offer up the best of Nashville on Wednesday, October 22nd. “Once again, we have an extraordinary number of special events planned for Fall Market,” says Brian D.
