Furniture World News on

After an intense search, accomplished artisan John Derian announced that he has chosen innovative and eco-friendly furniture company Cisco Brothers to manufacture his first-ever furniture collection that will be available across the country starting in October 2008. The John Derian Furniture Collection consists of five pieces and in signature Cisco Brothers-style the pieces are manufactured using green materials such as soy-based foam, non-toxic glues and FSC-certified domestic maple wood. The announcement comes just before the inaugural CA Boom EAST Design Show in High Point, North Carolina where the John Derian Furniture Collection will be making its furniture tradeshow debut. “Over the last 14 years of having my shop I have seen a real need for comfortable, good-looking upholstered furniture,”states John Derian. “I have had many great antique and vintage pieces come and go and I thought it was time to pull together some of my favorite pieces from the 18th and 19th century and share them with a wider audience. I am so excited to work with Cisco Brothers because they share my appreciation for creating stylish, comfortable, handmade furniture that truly complements my design aesthetic. Furthermore, Cisco Brothers takes the design process one step further by being the industry leader when it comes to eco-conscious and sustainable practices with an end result that is always remarkable.” The first furniture collection from John Derian is made up of five pieces: Cove Sofa, Geranium Sofa, Dromedary Loveseat, Fritillaria Chair and Field Bench. The line is offered in upholstered or slip-covered versions except for the tufted bench, which only comes upholstered. Using fabric from a Belgian company that has been making linen since the 1850’s, the pieces are available in two colors: oyster, a pretty soft white and flax, a pleasant ecru. “Cisco Brothers is thrilled to work with such a revered artist as John Derian,” says Cisco Pinedo, CEO and founder of CiscoBrothers. “His great talent for combining the old with the new in order to create truly unique and beautiful pieces is a task we’re looking forward to accomplishing with his very first furniture collection.” The John Derian Furniture Collection is now available at select home furnishings and accessories retailers across the country.
