HOM Furniture announced that with cooperation and involvement from local firefighters in each community, it will be handing out Free Two-Packs of 9-volt batteries to anyone stopping at one of their showroom locations on Saturday, November, 2008, from noon until 2:00. No purchase is required and HOM will also accept your old batteries and properly dispose and recycle them. Firefighters recommend replacing smoke alarm batteries twice a year at Daylight Savings Time. HOM Furniture is committed to its’ customers safety and this is the second time free batteries are being distributed, building on the success and interest generated from the previous initiative. Firefighters, with some vehicles and equipment on hand, have once again volunteered to be on hand and willingly support this great community cause—and help to keep fires and their damage to a minimum through early warning devices. The public is welcome to come and receive free smoke alarm batteries, meet and have their photograph taken with one of their community firefighters (Bring your camera along!) and, at many HOM locations, have the chance to sit in a fire department vehicle.
