Furniture World News Desk on 3/11/2019

Today, wholesale distributors of furniture from over 60 countries will come to Poznań to take part in the MEBLE POLSKA Furniture Fair, which will be held between 12 and 15 March in the exhibition halls of MTP Poznań Expo. This largest furniture contracting event in Eastern Europe attracts crowds of traders from around the world, and it is now the largest presentation of the offer of the second largest furniture manufacturer in Europe, which is Poland. Several years after changing the formula of the event into a strictly business one (in 2010), the MEBLE POLSKA Furniture Fair is in the group of the most important furniture industry meetings in Europe, and one of the most effective tools for the promotion of Polish furniture export.

One in three visitors comes from abroad

Among the representatives of the furniture industry worldwide, associations of Poznań are clear – it is synonymous with the fair where every year in March thousands of traders from several dozen countries contract the latest collections for the upcoming season. In our part of Europe, there is no other event that would bring together such a large group of furniture traders – says Józef Szyszka, MEBLE POLSKA Fair Director. Last year, the contracting event in Poznań was attended by almost 25,000 people, and the share of visitors from abroad reached 34 percent. – During the Meble Polska Furniture Fair, every third guest speaks in a foreign language, which is well heard in the exhibition halls – adds Józef Szyszka. This year, the event organizer, Grupa MTP, expects the presence of a similarly numerous group of foreign traders. Among the registered traders, there are the representatives of all major purchasing groups and furniture chain stores from 62 countries.

The largest presentation of Polish furniture in the world
Why is the interest in the Fair in Poznań so great? The MEBLE POLSKA Furniture Fair is the largest and the most comprehensive presentation of the offer of Polish furniture manufacturers in the world. The group of exhibitors includes all major Polish manufacturers of home furniture interested in exporting their products. Both traders looking for affordable furniture made of furniture board and those who sell furniture made of solid wood and other premium class furniture can find an interesting offer at the Fair. The exhibition is complemented by the extensive range of upholstered furniture and mattresses, in the production of which Poland is one of the world leaders. Part of the exhibition offered on an exclusive basis to key traders with the largest purchasing budgets is presented in closed spaces, the so-called secret rooms.

The news about the international success of the MEBLE POLSKA Furniture Fair is also disseminated abroad. Increasingly often, through their participation in the event, manufacturers form other countries, in particular Central and Eastern Europe, try to reach furniture buyers from around the world with their offer. This year, the exhibition will feature, in addition to Polish furniture, also products of companies from Belarus, Belgium, China, Croatia, Estonia, Ireland, Latvia, Lithuania, Russia, Slovakia, Ukraine and Italy. Traditionally, Meble Polska is accompanied by the HOME DECOR Interior Design Fair, where you can take a look at the current trends in interior design. HOME DECOR exhibition focuses on decoration, lighting, textiles and kitchen and bathroom equipment. The icing on the cake is the event appreciated by architects and designers, DESIGN ARENA, which this time will be held under the slogan "TransFormations." The stars of this year's edition include: Massproductions – a Swedish and British duo fascinated by the aesthetic dimension of production process optimization; the  Geckeler Michels studio from Berlin, combining innovative, sophisticated minimalism with incredible attention to detail; and Alexander Taylor – an Englishman with whom Alexander McQueen placed orders for specific products. In total, the Fair exhibition will occupy 11 exhibition halls with the surface area of approx. 62,000 square metres.

Nearly 50 lectures, training courses and workshops
The exhibition will be accompanied by an extensive programme of events aimed at both professional visitors and exhibitors. During the Fair, on 13 March, Polish Development Fund organizes a press conference combined with the presentation of the "Brand Strategy of Polish Furniture Industry" and a summary of the project entitled "Furniture Industry Export Accelerator." The conference will be attended by the Minister for Enterprise and Technology, Jadwiga Emilewicz. The Fair programme also includes meetings of Polish exporters with German customers, organized by Santander Bank Polska SA and the Polish-German Chamber of Industry and Commerce. As part of the series of seminars of the Polish Chamber of Commerce of Furniture Manufacturers, it will be possible for example to find out what the rules of conduct for exporters in selected markets of the Middle East are, what the additional requirements of the European market for furniture products are, and how to calculate the production cost and breakeven in furniture production. On 13 March in the Fair Spire, a conference will be held, entitled "The economics of values: man – company – relations. Autonomy and cooperation as a tool for effective management in the furniture industry." The special guest of the event will be Professor Jerzy Hausner, who will deliver a lecture on the economy of values. The conference is organized on the occasion of the hundredth issue of the "BIZNES meble.pl" magazine.
