Sustainable Furnishings Council To Offer Sustainability Training at High Point Market

Furniture World News Desk on 3/18/2019

The Sustainable Furnishings Council (SFC) announced that it will offer it’s accreditation course, GREENleaders, at High Point Market.  This 6-hour certificate course provides a grounding in sustainability issues and offers practical solutions for growing an eco-friendly home furnishings business.

GREENleaders at High Point Market will be presented in a new, more manageable format, over the course of two mornings.  Included is a networking luncheon for all market attendees.

The course is approved by IDCEC for .6 HSW CEUs (6 ceu) and by GBCI for 6 CE hours for LEED Professionals.  Completing GREENleaders also results in acknowledgement as a GREEN Accredited Professional, a designation maintained with continuing education.

Consumers are growing ever-more concerned about the health of the planet.  SFC's GREENleaders gives designers, retailers, manufacturers, reps, and others the knowledge and credentials they need to help solve the problems that come with the industry’s environmental footprint.

GREENleaders will be presented in the Seminar Room at Suites at Market Square, April 9 and 10 from 9:30am to 12:30pm.  The SFC Networking Luncheon follows class on April 9; an informal lunch follows class on April 10. Special thanks to sponsors of the luncheons: International Market Centers, American Leather, Currey & Co., Libeco, Sustainable Composites, and SFC Education Partners Saatva, Naturepedic, Room & Board, Mitchell Gold + Bob Williams.

All are invited to visit sustainablefurnishings.org to register for GREENleaders and RSVP for the luncheon.

Susan Inglis, Executive Director of the Sustainable Furnishings Council, will facilitate the GREENleaders discussions.  She has led SFC to work with industry leaders to establish criteria to gauge the sustainability of furniture products and practices; develop programs for educating all sectors of the industry; and attract hundreds of companies to membership. Inglis serves on the Board of the American Sustainable Business Council and was awarded the 2009 Education Award by WithIt and a 2017 Visionary Leadership award by the NC Business Council. She lives in North Carolina.
