Malouf Adds Director of Intellectual Property to Legal Team

Malouf announced that it has expanded its in-house legal team with the recent hire of Michelle Laverty, former lead IP analyst for a Fortune 500 company. With more than 20 years of experience in intellectual property law, Laverty will collaborate with the Malouf product development and marketing teams to bolster the company’s comprehensive portfolio of copyrights, patents and trademarks.  

“As the director of intellectual property, Michelle will play an essential role in building our brand strategy,” said Malouf CEO Sam Malouf. “Through her focused and strategic initiatives, we can continue to offer the latest in sleep solutions and bedding technology.”  

Before assuming her new position at Malouf, Laverty lead the strategic analysis of the intellectual property portfolio for Emerson Climate Technologies, a Fortune 500 company based out of Sidney, Ohio. Prior to that role, she worked for Edison Welding Institute Inc., where she managed the company’s intellectual property generation, protection and commercialization strategies.  

Laverty earned her bachelor’s degree in business administration from Ohio University and is currently a member of the Intellectual Property Owners Association, Licensing Executive Society, Association of University Technology Members and Columbus Intellectual Property Association.
