Hooker Furniture recently announced that it is set to unveil an updated assortment of upholstery silhouettes with New Traditional styling at the Spring High Point Market, running April 14 - 18. More than 60 new pieces including club chairs, swivel chairs, accent ottomans, home office chairs, recliners, stationary and motion upholstery groups will focus on a continuing trend of adding updated design elements to traditional silhouettes. Most styles will also be shown at the March 5 - 6 spring High Point Premarket.

"We're enhancing our traditional upholstery styles by adding more dimension and interest to with new materials, updated scaling and innovative technologies," said Jeremy Hoff, president of Hooker upholstery. "Each of these design elements join together to create an updated traditional style."

Joining the company's already extensive line of stationary leather furniture, the company will introduce more than 15 leather club and swivel chairs, six stationary sofa groups, several sectionals and 10 stylish accent ottomans. Each silhouette is upholstered in high quality, top grain leather and is available to ship from the company's domestic warehouse program in Martinsville, or by direct container. The silhouettes feature updated design elements that give them a more transitional look, including metal accents, exposed wood, hair on hide accent leathers and smaller-scaled seating options that don't compromise comfort.

Highlights of the new stationary offerings include the Cato Club Accent Chair, featuring a modernized wing-back silhouette with slender, splayed arms and tall, tapered wooden legs. The piece is characterized by its hair on hide accent leather which is featured on the outside arms and back.

Additional standouts include the Lively Swivel Chair and Swivel Ottoman, the first of its kind in Hooker Furniture's product line. With a deep-seat and over scaled track arms, the contemporary chair features geometric satin nickel metal details on the outside arm panel. It is paired with a unique Swivel Ottoman which boasts matching metal details on its side panels.

The Weldon Sectional features classic Chesterfield styling with deep button tufting on its elegant back and high rolled arms. Available in both 88- and a dramatically scaled 182-inch length, the sophisticated look is completed with nail head details and bun-style feet.

"In addition to our updated styling approach, we are also implementing a new merchandising direction in our showroom that will have a lifestyle focus, said Hoff. "For example, you'll see our traditionally styled Weldon Tufted Sectional displayed with a set of four bunching cube ottomans with contemporary metal bases. This eclectic blend of different styles, materials and finishes is a good example of our New Traditional lifestyle direction."

Also available as part of its domestic warehouse program or by direct container, Hooker Furniture is introducing 15 top grain power leather motion recliners and five power leather motion groups. Featuring a variety of refined designs, the motion offerings support the company's new style direction with slimmer, sleeker, and tailored styles that provide a stylish solution for consumers who are looking for reclining functionality without the look of a typical motion piece. Additional design details include metal legs, exposed wood details and hidden actuators.

Highlights in the motion category include the Savion Power Motion Sofa. Featuring dual power, the piece features classic styling with the added benefit of unexpected motion functionality.

In addition to stationary and motion upholstery styles, the company is also adding an innovative heated seat technology to its home office seating options, providing both ergonomic and comfort benefits. Following a trend of more employees telecommuting and working from home office spaces, the 10 new office chairs are smaller scaled and designed with a softer appearance to better coordinate with residential environments. The warming feature heats the lower lumbar area of the chair and is powered by a battery unit that provides up to two hours of heated comfort. Two temperature settings are controlled by a stylish actuator on the outside of the chair frames.
