Sunnyland Patio Furniture Recognized as a Texas Treasure

Furniture World News Desk on 8/2/2018

Sunnyland Patio Furniture recently announced that the Texas Historical Commission has recognized the company as a Texas Treasure with the Texas Treasure Award from the Texas Historical Commission. This Texas Business Award Program pays tribute to businesses who have provided employment opportunities and who have supported the state’s economy for 50 years or more.

“It is a privilege and an honor for Sunnyland to receive this prestigious recognition,” David Schweig, president of Sunnyland Patio Furniture, said. “Each year has brought us new growth opportunities that have kept our momentum moving in a positive and upward direction. Our success comes from our employees, our community and our customers; we are committed to them, to exceeding expectations and to doing what we do best – creating the perfect patio.”

Created in 2005 through legislation authored by Sen. Leticia Van de Putte (D-San Antonio) and sponsored by Rep. “Doc” Anderson (R-Waco), the Texas Business Award Program recognizes well-established Texas businesses and their exceptional historical contributions to the state’s economic growth and prosperity.

"It's an honor to have Sunnyland Patio Furniture right here in HD102. I congratulate them on their Texas Treasures Award,” Linda Koop, member of the Texas House of Representatives, representing District 102, said.

A special decal identifying the business as a Texas Treasure will be displayed on Sunnyland’s storefront. Consumers will know when they spot the familiar Texas Treasure Business icon, they are doing business with a well-established, Texas-owned-and-operated business that has long contributed to job growth, stimulated the local economy and generated state and local tax revenues.

From its establishment in 1945 by the Wallenstein family, to its current owners, David and Debbie Schweig, Sunnyland Furniture has been a staple in the Dallas community, known for its abundant product offerings and for having an infallible reputation for surpassing expectations.
