Tomlinson To Host High Point Event With Major Designers Barry Dixon, Bea Pila And Michael Wolk

Tomlinson reported that three of the top designers in the home furnishings industry will take the stage at this Fall’s High Point Market, giving insight into what is inspiring designers and how that is being translated into tomorrow’s trends. The Tomlinson event, “Inspire Tomorrow” will feature top designers Barry Dixon, Bea Pila, and Michael Wolk, and will be moderated by industry thought leader and trend forecaster, Ellen Gefen.
The “Inspire Tomorrow” event will be held Monday, October 21, 2013 at 2 pm in the Tomlinson showroom at 525 N. Wrenn Street. The panel of distinguished designers will discuss their unique design view points, what inspires them today and how they see that translating into tomorrow’s trends. In addition to the discussion moderated, attendees will have the opportunity to ask questions of the panel.
“To be able to get these four great talents together is a real coup,” said Rod Lambeth, CEO of Tomlinson. “We’ve been blessed to have all three design product for us. They each represent a unique perspective which gives Tomlinson a broad appeal to designers.”
The three designers have enjoyed immense success and each is known for their own design style and philosophy, Michael Wolk is known for his dramatic Neo Modern Style. Barry Dixon is recognized for his fresh take on traditional and his knowledge of historical interiors and the decorative arts. Bea Pila brings her Miami-based style and verve to residential and commercial design.
The event will be moderated by Ellen Gefen of Gefen Productions and TheHome.com who is recognized as one of the home furnishings industry’s foremost trend forecasters. “I’m looking forward to delving into what inspires these three greats, said Gefen. “In addition to being incredible design talents, they are three energetic and entertaining speakers. It will be a fabulous event.”

An interior designer practicing in the Virginia Countryside near Washington, DC, Barry Dixon has taken his own brand of warmly hospitable southern design style to projects around the world. A childhood spent abroad in exotic locales such as India, South Africa & French Polynesia affords his work a singular global perspective. Multiple magazine pictorials (Southern Accents, Veranda, House Beautiful, Metropolitan Home, Traditional Home) as well as continuous television appearances has spurred the success of his furniture line with Tomlinson . For nearly three decades, Bea Pila has captured awards, partnerships and commissions for her creative, intricate and high-quality designs that harmoniously blend fashion and function. As founding principal of B. Pila Design Studio, she transforms spaces into inviting homes, literally working from the ground up to harmonize architectural, fixture and decorative elements. She is a Florida-licensed and National Council for Interior Design Qualification- (NCIDQ-)certified interior designer, as well as a professional member of the American Society of Interior Designers (ASID).
MICHAEL WOLK

Wolk and his extraordinary design team create public spaces, residential, hospitality and corporate interiors, as well as furniture collections for more than two dozen licensees – all in his signature Neo Modern Style. He explains the latter as a marriage of the exuberance of dynamic American modernism and the grace and elegance of a full range of European design traditions. Less well known is Wolk’s passion for creating one-of-a-kind pieces of art furniture that often give a unique, whimsical touch to design projects.

Ellen Gefen is a trusted home fashion trend and style forecaster, and has hosted and produced the High Point Furniture Market’s premier news program, Home Fashion Report, for over 25 years.
