Spring Time Bedding Grows Luxury Business By 60% In Last 12 Months;

Furniture World News Desk on 3/24/2014

Spring Time Bedding said it tripled its luxury mattress business since it has started showing at leading industry trade shows such as Las Vegas and High Point markets. With new models targeting the consumer attracted to “moderate” luxury offerings and price points, company executives say they have seen a 60-percent increase in sales with its dealers expanding their floor space with luxury models.

“We have seen a dramatic uptick in our luxury business since investing in industry trade shows. Buyers and dealers are now more familiar with the Spring Time brand and quality sleep products,” said Spring Time Vice President and National Account Sales Manager Sarah Appleton. “Our mattresses appeal to retailers looking to add more variety to their showroom floors because we are not only an alternative to the S brands and Tempur-Pedic, but our products compliment their current inventory and create high margin opportunities.”

Appleton said that moderate luxury was a growing niche in the industry.

“Consumers see a Tempur-Pedic ad on television with no price attached to it and go into a sleep shop and are aghast at the cost. Most dealers were unprepared with more moderate luxury price points –feature packed models for less than $5,000, so they were losing customers,” she said. “That is the space we have moved into, helping our dealers fill the gap with product rich feature from $1,799 to $4,999. They are selling more products and making higher margins.”

The collection leading the charge in the company’s success is the new Handcrafted line. Fashionable and functional, the hand-tufting feature gives the collection a luxe look anchoring the top quilt panels to the bottom of the mattress which keeps all of the components from shifting and prevents body impressions. With a price range of $1,500 - $4,000 in queen, the collection’s four models offer consumers the same luxurious features and feel found in mattresses with starting costs over $10,000.

The hybrid collection is made using fine craftsmanship and only quality components such as gel-infused memory foam, latex, convoluted foam, and encased coils and is available in firm, plush and pillow-top SKUs. The collection features a luxurious, plush stretch knit ticking that not only promotes air flow, but provides extra support to the pressure points for both back and side sleepers.
