New Pacific Direct Launches Simplified Buying Program

The chair is constructed of solid birch with wedge-finished legs and a teal cover fabric.

Dining, bedroom and accent furniture resource New Pacific Direct announced the launch of a new Simplified Buying Program designed to make its ordering and shipping process easier and more affordable for retailers from coast to coast.

The program, launched July 1, offers all U.S. customers — with the exception of those in California — a flat freight rate of 15 percent on all shipments with a minimum purchase of only $600. California customers will enjoy a special 10 percent freight rate for shipments within the state, where New Pacific Direct is headquar-tered. Previously, New Pacific Direct offered two pricing tiers for the East and West, with a minimum order of $1,500 required on shipments to the East Coast.

“Our new Simplified Buying Program will offer our customers greater peace of mind,” said Henry Limarta, CEO. “They’ll know that anytime they place an order of $600 or more, their freight rate will always be the same, regardless of location, and the low minimum requirement will simplify the ordering process since cus-tomers won’t need to consolidate a shipment to get a better rate.”

The Simplified Buying Program also will streamline order placement and processing, Limarta added. “We are implementing new approaches to make our order process speedier and more efficient. The Simplified Buying Program will take our customer service to a new level.”

Since moving its headquarters and distribution center to a new 145,000-square-foot facility in Newark, Calif., in 2014, New Pacific Direct has reduced the amount of time it takes to ship out confirmed orders to a single day for many orders. Prior to the move, the company’s typical service interval for shipping products was three to five days from the time of confirmed order.

“The larger warehouse enables us to stock a much higher level of inventory,” said Limarta. “We now offer a deep stock of 150 quick-ship items that are always available, and about 800 SKUs of additional items that also are ready for immediate shipping in two days or less.”

New Pacific Direct also offers a mixed container program out of China, Indonesia and Vietnam, near its source factories, Limarta added.

In addition to rolling out its Simplified Buying Program, New Pacific Direct also is in the process of putting the final touches on a major upgrade to its website. The website will include a number of new features, in-cluding real-time inventory information, estimated time of arrival information for back orders and complete order processing.

“The new website offers our retailers the ability to place an order anytime they want,” said Limarta. “Our cus-tomers are busy, hard-working people and only being able to do business during regular hours is limiting. Our new website will bridge that gap by allowing our customers to access information 24/7.”

The new site also will reduce the need for retailers to make a phone call to check on inventory or shipping dates. “And, for the first time, they can complete every step of the ordering process entirely online,” Limarta said. “Together with our Simplified Buying Program, our new website makes it easier than ever to buy from us.”

New Pacific Direct plans to unveil the new site to retailers at the Las Vegas Market being held Aug. 2 to 6. During market, the company also will introduce 400 new SKUs across all its core product categories, includ-ing stylish fabric strap seating; creative mixed media applications, such as metal-and-wood, metal-and-leather and metal-and-rattan accent chairs and occasional pieces; solid-wood dining and bedroom; and natural and organic looks, including rattan, petrified wood and reclaimed wood. In addition, the company also will make major additions to two product categories the company entered last year — home office desks, seating and storage; and molded polycarbonate casual dining and bar stools. And it will spotlight a variety of new bold, brassy colors, such as reds, golds and silvers, in both seating and wood pieces.

Styles for all product categories range from transitional to modern.

“As Millennials enter the marketplace and establish homes, the interest in contemporary styles is certain to grow,” said Limarta. “In Las Vegas, we will be expanding our selection of fresh, modern designs to appeal to this fast-growing market.”

New Pacific’s strength is “fashionable products with great quality at fantastic values,” according to Limarta. “We create value by developing products with decent materials — not cheap substitutes — keeping things simple and maintaining a reasonably slim margin. We also have a very dedicated customer service team to keep our customers happy.”

At the Las Vegas Market, New Pacific Direct will give away “a beautiful Felix arm chair worth $699 retail” for customers placing a $2,000 order, Limarta said. New Pacific Direct shows in Space A-654 of the World Market Center.
