Annual Furniture Show in Edison, NJ Under New Management

MKM Expos reported that the Edison Furniture & Accessory Market formerly produced by Karel Exposition Management (KEM) for the past 55 years will be re-launched in January 2016.

The 2016 edition of the event is slated for January 31 – February 2 at the New Jersey Convention Center in Edison, and it will have a new management team and a new identity.

MKM Expos, LLC of Spring Lake, NJ has acquired the rights to the event following the retirement of KEM President Larry Karel, and under the direction of Managing Partner Kevin McLaughlin has been relaunched as the Northeast Furniture & Accessory Market.

“In time, we all pass the baton, and after 55 years of producing trade shows I have chosen to retire,” said Karel. “I wanted someone who really knows the business, who is honest and respectable, and who will have the exhibitors first in mind to deliver a successful event. I have found that in Kevin McLaughlin and his team.”

“This event has, for many years, showcased a wide range of products and services related to the furniture industry, from leading exhibitors,” said McLaughlin. “It is well-established as a premier event for the furniture industry, and we intend to build on that history.

“We are renaming the event as the Northeast Furniture & Accessory Market to broaden the regional market and identify it geographically,” said McLaughlin. “Regional buyers and exhibitors from New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Connecticut and other surrounding states are the target audience. The visitor profile includes everything from a wide range of large & small retailers, designers and more.”

“Plans are also in the works to produce KEM’s Long Beach Furniture & Accessory Market at the Long Beach Convention Center in California, in 2016,” said McLaughlin.

Kevin McLaughlin had, for 25 years, been a Managing Partner of New Jersey-based MAC Events, LLC, managing events from top to bottom—business development, operations, sales and marketing. He has been involved with the production of more than 300 trade shows through his career, managing a stable of annual events, launching new properties and rebuilding distressed ones. In 2013, MAC Events was acquired by the publicly traded Townsquare Media.
