Las Vegas Market Raises $9,500 For Gift For Life

Furniture World News Desk on 8/22/2016

Las Vegas Market recently announced that its sixth annual “Up on the Roof” gala raised $9,500 to benefit Gift for Life, the gift, stationery and home décor industries' leading charitable organization. The fundraiser, widely recognized as a hallmark of the Summer Las Vegas Market, drew nearly 300 supporters to its 2016 edition.

“Las Vegas Market is pleased and proud to support to the industry’s chosen charity by raising awareness and funds for AIDS education, treatment, prevention and advocacy,” said Dorothy Belshaw, president of Gift & Home Décor, International Market Centers, and Gift for Life board member. “In six years, Las Vegas Market’s ‘Up on the Roof’ fundraiser has raised nearly $60,000 to benefit Gift for Life.”

The gala raised money both through ticket sales as well as a silent auction that offered nearly 20 unique experiential items and Las Vegas hotels, dining and attraction packages – valued between $200 to $4,850. Items available for bid included travel package prizes to Costa Rica and New Orleans, as well unique experiences such as the 50th Annual Country Music Awards in Nashville, NASCAR Sprint Races and an ultimate “Top Gun” adventure allowing one lucky buyer to serve as a fighter pilot for a day in a military aircraft. Las Vegas-focused prizes included multi-night hotel stays at The Cosmopolitan, Golden Nugget, Hilton Grand Vacations, The D Hotel, SLS, Stratosphere, Treasure Island Hotel & Casino, Trump and Venetian; dinners at Giada (inside The Cromwell) and McCall’s Heartland Grill (inside Stratosphere); Happy Hour at High Roller; and tickets to shows including Geordie Brown, Marriage Can Be Murder, Mystère by Cirque du Soleil and The Pin-Up Show.

“We thank Las Vegas Market for its ongoing support for our industry charity,” said Frank Joens, Gift for Life chair. “At-market events are essential forums for industry-wide fundraising and awareness and ‘Up on The Roof’ is a stellar event on Gift for Life’s annual calendar.”
