Lexington Launches New Brand with Designer Barclay Butera

Furniture World News Desk on 9/29/2017

Lexington Home Brands recently announced the launch of their latest lifestyle brand - a collaboration with designer Barclay Butera. The initial introduction will be comprised of two distinctively different whole-home collections, Newport and Brentwood. The presentation will be unveiled at the High Point Market, October 13-18, 2017 in the main Lexington showroom located at 1300 National Highway.

"Lexington has long been an industry innovator in developing collections that resonate with consumers because they speak to an aspirational lifestyle," said Phil Haney, President and CEO of Lexington Home Brands. "Our brand launch with Barclay Butera represents a milestone, because it's the first time we have partnered with an interior designer to collaboratively reimagine a style category. Recognizing that over half of affluent consumers today describe themselves as traditionalists, we see an opportunity in the marketplace to create an entirely new take on classic traditional design. Given his remarkable creativity, a diverse and proven body of work, and a proclivity for putting a fresh and relevant twist on traditional, we felt that Barclay was an ideal choice. We also appreciated the fact that he owns and operates three highly successful showrooms that ground his design vernacular in the realities of retail."

The Barclay Butera brand will debut at the October Market with the introduction of two lifestyle collections- Newport and Brentwood. Each takes a different approach to his interpretation of "New Traditional" design. They will feature a significant component of custom upholstery, highlighting Barclay's styling aesthetic, his keen eye for scale and tailoring and talent for creating exceptional frame and fabric correlations. Lexington's upholstery manufacturing complex in North Carolina is ideally suited for this type of bench-made custom work, offering specialty finishes, COM options and delivery times averaging 30-days.

The Newport collection finds its inspiration in the relaxed yet sophisticated lifestyle of the coast. Crafted from elm veneers, the portfolio is offered in two wood tones with five accent finishes. The primary wood finish is Sandstone, whose lighter hue sets the stage for the collection's fresh approach to a casual traditional living. Sailcloth, the second wood finish, features a custom whitewash technique that serves to highlight the grain patterns in the wood while mixing effortlessly with Sandstone. Signature items are offered in three shades of raffia - natural, marine blue and sea glass green, offering captivating possibilities for layering of texture and color. Select silhouettes are also available in marine blue and sea glass green painted finishes. Textiles in soft linens and cottons feature palettes of Barclay's signature blue and white, ivory and soft shades of taupe and gray. Patterns include bold geometrics, balanced stripes, bamboo lattice designs, contemporary animal prints and an unexpected touch of chinoiserie.

Drawing its name and styling from the exclusive enclave near Beverly Hills, the Brentwood collection offers an interpretation of traditional, with signature designs, a striking custom finish, textured silver leaf, ebony accents and a rich layering of fabrics. In contrast to the casual lifestyle conveyed in the Newport collection, Brentwood takes a more refined and curated approach. The aesthetic retains the sophistication of Hollywood Regency, but the infusion of transitional and contemporary elements updates the look with a decidedly modern vibe. Key to this evolution is the exclusive Wilshire finish, which is a warm graphite coloration, hand-waxed to enhance the depth and clarity of the wood. Custom metal bases feature black nickel stainless steel. Textiles offer palettes of black, gray and white with accents of celadon and blue. Patterns include menswear stripes, herringbone designs, balanced geometrics, toile, embroidery and animal prints.

"While it may sound unexpected, I've found that one of the roles I often find myself in with clients is that of a therapist for the home. It's my responsibility to understand their aspirations for living and entertaining and to then create an environment that enables them to live that lifestyle. I cherish the role because I can literally impact someone's life. How amazing is that? Traditional design has a comfortable familiarity about it, which makes classic styling an ideal launching pad for creating inspired interiors. In Newport and Brentwood, we have designed two distinctively different approaches to modern living through unique interpretations of classic traditional style."

Since 1994, Barclay Butera has been the creative force behind his eponymous design firm based in Newport Beach, California. His signature aesthetic is distinctive - a fresh take on classic all-American style that flawlessly integrates into traditional, transitional and contemporary interiors.

In addition to his private-client interior design business, Butera is an accomplished speaker, author of five design books and operates design showrooms and retail locations in Newport Beach and Corona del Mar, California and Park City, Utah. He has been recognized with top design honors and featured in House Beautiful, Luxe Design + Interiors, ELLE DÉCOR, Ocean Home, Traditional Home, Veranda and Mountain Living magazines.

"I am thrilled to be collaborating with Lexington, whose reputation for product development and design innovation are best in class" said Butera. "I have been a Lexington dealer for years, allowing me to experience the strength of their commitment to quality and customer service. The company has smartly positioned themselves as a designer line with broad appeal because of styling, lifestyle merchandising and strong relative value. Lexington products are totally relevant for my high-end design jobs, yet resonate with consumers in my retail showrooms as well."

Newport and Brentwood make their debut at the High Point Market, October 13-18, 2017 in the Lexington Home Brands Showroom located at 1300 National Highway. There will be a special celebration event held in the showroom on Monday October 16th from 3:30 until 7:00 with cocktails and gourmet appetizers. At 4:00, Kelly Edwards from Editor at Large will join Barclay on stage for a conversation about New Traditional Style, followed by a meet and greet with Barclay after the presentation. The press are cordially invited.

Complimentary parking is available on the showroom campus and lunch is served daily.
