Hooker Furniture recently announced that it is adding a third collection to their brand, which is inspired by the authenticity of today’s American living experience. Crafted, a 40-piece whole home collection, interprets a growing trend in the U.S., often referred to as “New Local” or “Glocalization,” where supporting local businesses, building a sense of community and local charm are becoming increasing more appealing to consumers.

Once a thriving mainstay of communities across the country, smaller downtown areas have encountered their ups and downs throughout history. As the “New Local” trend continues to trickle down from booming cities like Nashville and Austin, trendy urban hangouts are popping up in towns across the U.S. As the shift toward local charm gains momentum with consumers, many of these communities are experiencing a resurgence, where old factories are being revamped into trendy apartment buildings and the local coffee shop, craft brewery or distillery are emerging as the “go-to” hotspots for socialization and entertainment.
“While the doors to many of these historical businesses may have been previously boarded up or posted with going out of business signs, the buildings were always full of life, heritage and authenticity,” said Steve Lush, president of Hooker case goods. “It is those original structures, which are now the incubators for new businesses, that are shifting the economy back to its roots. The wooden floors and countertops, antique copper flooring and wood paneling are the inspiration behind our new Crafted Collection.”

It was during a local road trip and seeing first-hand a new wave of store fronts with rustic charm that the Crafted Collection was born. Constructed of poplar solids and oak veneers in a finish that is reminiscent of a bourbon barrel burnished over time, the collection features authentic design details including aluminum accents with a heavy copper patina, aged leather accents on case pieces, leather-wrapped hardware and heavily distressed textured finishes that provide authentic, aged character.

Anchoring the 15 bedroom pieces are two beds, including a fully upholstered panel bed featuring quilted earth-tone fabric on the headboard and footboard that is framed and contrasted by a heavily textured dark wood tone. Individually framed aged leather panels with button-tufted centers characterize the headboard of the panel bed, which features a low-profile wooden footboard in a rich oak wood tone with hints of burnished black. Storage pieces include four drawer dressers, a bachelor chest and two nightstand options, each with leather-wrapped hardware. A vertical floor mirror rounds out the bedroom pieces.
Dining room pieces include a rectangular dining table with traditional linear forms, a 54-inch round dining table with a curved pedestal base with a metal stretcher detail and a versatile friendship table with two 12-inch leaves. Tables can be paired with a leather arm chair, upholstered side and arm chairs, a storage dining bench, a barrel-back bar stool and a counter stool. Storage pieces include a buffet, display cabinet, his and her bar, and a bar cabinet.

Occasional, home office and home entertainment pieces include a coordinating cocktail table and console table, two lamp tables, a hall console, a drum table, an entertainment console, an executive desk with desk chair and an etagere.
