Hooker Furniture recently announced that it will launch two Next Generation Home Office Collections at the Fall 2017 High Point Market. Each collection is designed to accommodate the new – and smaller – technology available today, resulting in a shift towards smaller, more-compact workspaces that can be adapted for multiple uses.

“Because of compact technology and wireless networks, consumers need less space and less furniture to work from home,” said Steve Lush, president of Hooker case goods. “Many of today’s consumers are looking for smaller-scaled designs with smart features that are flexible, allowing them to utilize their furniture for many uses.

“Each 10-piece collection is modular and flexible in its design, which will provide the telecommuting consumer with multiple options to create their own ‘custom’ footprint with almost endless variations,” he continued. “The smaller-scaled pieces offer just the right amount of filing and storage space and a smaller desktop surface for a laptop, small printer and supplies. In addition, our retail partners will benefit from a merchandising perspective, as it creates the opportunity to sell multiple pieces in a much smaller retail footprint.”

In addition to the modular benefits, the desks also feature a power-lift mechanism that adjusts from a 30-inch standard desk height to a 49-inch height, with controlled stop positions at any point in between. This flexibility supports the growing popularity of stand-up desks which have many health and ergonomic benefits, including reducing back and neck strain and improving overall posture. The adjustable height work surface also supports the concept of “multi-purpose rooms” that can be adapted for various uses including home office, crafting and other hobbies that may require a higher workspace.

The Elon Collection features refined silhouettes in walnut veneers with a medium wood tone finish. The veneer is placed in a randomized pattern to emphasize the natural beauty of the walnut. Other defining design features include a darker toned “X-shape” stretcher on the desk legs and bookshelf ends, which provide a bit of contrast. Oval shaped pulls in a silver tone complete the look.

The Kai Collection is constructed with wire brushed oak veneer in a soft gray finish. Champagne-colored silver leaf accents characterize the legs of the desks and provide a touch of glam. Hardware includes simple metal bar pulls in a champagne finish.

Pieces in each collection include a lift desk, a 64-, 74- and 94-inch desk, a short bunching bookcase, a desk pedestal, a two-door cabinet, a corner desk base unit, an open bookshelf, a lateral file and a swivel desk chair.
