United Furniture Industries recently announced that it has finalized its purchase of Lane Furniture.

United announced Nov. 21 that it has agreed to buy Lane from Heritage Home Group LLC for an undisclosed sum.

The purchase includes the global rights to the Lane brand, the 750,000 square-foot manufacturing facility in Belden, and Lane’s 202,000 square-foot Royal Development recliner mechanism facility in High Point, North Carolina.

United President Larry George said it would be business as usual at the former Lane plants beginning Monday. Lane employs 300 at the Belden plant.

“We are excited about including the Lane brand with our United Furniture and Simmons-branded products, and equally excited to have the Lane team join the United Furniture family today.”

Doug Hanby, United’s chief operations officer said a merger of the Lane and United systems is underway and “we expect a smooth merger over the next four to six months.”

In addition, Lane will be showing in a new 10,000-square-foot showroom at the upcoming Tupelo Furniture Market on Jan. 3-6.

“We will be showing Lane’s FastLane express ship program of Lane’s best-selling motion furniture, comfort king recliners, hi-leg recliners, mid-sized recliners and stationary upholstery,” said Jay Quimby, executive vice president of sales for United.

A ribbon-cutting is planned for Jan. 4 at the Lane showroom, which is adjacent to United’s Simmons Upholstery and Case Goods showroom in Building VI.

United Furniture currently employs about 3,500 employees at its facilities in Nettleton, Tupelo, Okolona, Hatley, Sherman, Vardaman and Amory; Archdale, High Point, Lexington and Winston-Salem, North Carolina; and Victorville, California.
