Stoney Creek Furniture Chairman Receives Lifetime Achievement Award

Stoney Creek Furniture recently announced that chairman Dennis Novosel has received the 2017 Lifetime Achievement Award from the Canadian Home Furnishings Alliance (CHFA).

In a gala ceremony on May 25 in Vaughan, Novosel was honoured for his long-term dedication to the industry, his community-mindedness, and his unwavering dedication to customer service.

Industry Honours

As the deserving recipient of this year’s award, Dennis has devoted countless hours to the Boards of the Interior Design Society, Retail Home Furnishings Association and the National Home Furnishings Association (NHFA).

In 2010, NHFA honoured Dennis as Retailer of the Year. He won a Trillium Award-Canadian Furniture Industry in 2001; was the Ontario Furniture Manufacturers Associations (OFMA) Retailer of the Year in 2006; and received the Stoney Creek-Hamilton Outstanding Business Award in both 2006 and 2007.

Family, Friends and Community

Having led with integrity and professionalism since Stoney Creek Furniture opened its doors in 1969, Dennis attributes his success to a loving family and friends, loyal customers, staff and suppliers — and he is grateful to be able to give back by supporting local charities and global causes.

Giving Back

Dennis’ commitment to business excellence is matched only by his dedication to community service. He supports many Hamilton and area causes including Ronald McDonald House, Dr. Bob Kemp Hospice, Hamilton Food Share, Food 4 Kids, SPCA, Heart & Stroke Big Bike, and the Cure Breast Cancer Foundation.

Dennis is also deeply committed to global charities. He has visited Haiti several times with The Joy and Hope of Haiti, helping build two schools, an orphanage and a training centre. In 2006, he travelled to Mozambique to help build a church and school, and he continues to help build sanitation centres for schools in Kenya through Connecting Countries Adopt-a-School.
