Executive Director Leaving Furniture Society

Furniture World News Desk on 7/15/2017

The Board of Trustees of The Furniture Society announced recently that Bill Hinman will be leaving his position as Executive Director effective August 31, 2017. Hinman plans to return to his full-time non-profit consulting practice.

Forest Dickey, board president, thanked Hinman "for your service to the Furniture Society and the work you have done to improve the organization." Hinman is working closely with the Executive Committee to ensure an orderly and effective change in organizational leadership.

While sorry to lose Bill, the Board of Trustees is enthusiastic about the future for The Furniture Society, which celebrated its 20th year in 2016. Planning for FS18, the organization's biannual conference, is underway, as well as for FS19 and FS20. In addition, the Society will be returning to IDS-West and WestEdge in the fall of 2017, and is in the planning stages for exhibitions in 2018. A new website and membership management system are also under development.

"I believe the Society is now well-equipped to move into its future," said Hinman, "with sound operations, a healthy financial picture, a wide range of benefits for members and the general public, and the opportunity to build on its heritage for a strong third decade and beyond."
