Bush Furniture Expands Into Bedroom Category With Somerset

Bush Furniture recently announced that it has expanded beyond home office, entertainment and storage products and into the bedroom category with a new American-made collection.
The collection’s design highlights include an ash gray wood-grain textured finish along with satin nickel hardware and tapered leg detailing.
“We based the line on our existing Somerset office collection, one of our best sellers for a number of years,” said Joe Ruedinger, director of design. “It has a contemporary, broad appeal and is very on trend with this finish. A warm gray finish is extremely popular in homes today.”
When Bush Furniture branched into the bedroom category, designers worked to create products meant to provide years of safe and reliable use.
Dressers and chests include a drawer interlock mechanism to prevent multiple drawers from opening at once, offset front feet for added stability, counterweight back panels and a tip over restraint for anchoring to the wall. These products exceed the ASTM-F2057-14 stability standard to reduce the risk of tip over. The American Home Furnishings Alliance has highlighted this standard through the We Comply campaign, which promotes manufacturers that meet the voluntary safety requirements.
“We’re exceeding industry standards by using 70 pounds instead of 50 in our tip testing,” said Ruedinger, noting the importance of the collection’s extended base for added stability. “We wanted to create a product people wouldn’t have to worry about. We’re really trying to go above and beyond in living up to Bush’s standards for safety and quality.”
The line includes a mirror, queen or full size headboard, chest of drawers, six drawer dresser, and nightstand for individual sale or as a complete bedroom set.
