An exclusive home furnishings Women’s Leadership Tour of City of Hope’s cancer and diabetes research campus will take place Thursday, August 3rd.

“We are thrilled to announce we are having our 2nd Annual Women’s Health Initiative back by popular demand. Based on feedback from our 1st tour held last year at City of Hope, we have extended our capacity for this important visit to members of WithIt as well as other men and women, in the Home Furnishings Industry, interested in learning more about the latest lifesaving research and developments taking place at City of Hope.”, said Jena Hall, Jena Hall Designs, Co-chair of the initiative and Member of the National Executive Board of the International Home Furnishings chapter of City of Hope. A welcome dinner hosted by Cory 1st Choice Home Delivery kicks off the initiative, to be held the evening of August 2nd followed the next day at the medical campus featuring presentations by world-renowned researchers, luncheon and grounds tour.

“We have almost 100% returning attendees from last year’s tour and many new participants will be joining us this year. We have special rates at the Westin hotel in Pasadena. It is a wonderful opportunity to hear first hand about new lifesaving discoveries, treatments and breakthroughs and we hope more people will take advantage of this great educational event.”

“City of Hope helps educate everyone who is lucky enough to visit the campus”, said Ellen Gefen, Gefen Productions, Co-Chair of the initiative and member of the National Executive Board. “It truly is a life changing opportunity to see, learn and hear from the doctors and facilitators about the work at City of Hope.”

Lorri Kelley, President, BDI, member of the WithIt Board of Directors, and member of the International Home Furnishings Industry Board of Directors for City of Hope, stated. “I had the privilege of being a part of the first tour last year and I can honestly say it was a transformative experience for me. It was there, among that serene Southern California backdrop, that I received my most meaningful introduction to City of Hope, and how dedicated they are to their passionate mission of saving lives. These inspiring medical professionals are truly angels on Earth. I cannot think of a better cause for the WithIt organization to support, during our 20th anniversary year, than the Women’s Health Initiative, and I am honored to be a representative again on this year’s tour."

Carolyn Crowley, President of Myriad Software and Co-Chair of the initiative added, “I was so excited to attend the Women’s Health Initiative tour in 2016. As someone who’s been affected by both cancer and diabetes in my family and friends close to me, it was a joy to see such an incredible organization at the City of Hope. I was not only touched by the amazing work that they do but the care that they give to all their patients and ongoing initiatives. It was so touching and awe-inspiring. I left with the feeling of “What more can I do?” I’m committed to spread the word and show my support to a wonderful group of dedicated people who do so much for patient and their families. Their vision is to create future solutions to remove both of these diseases from our lives. I’m honored to be part of the WithIt organization and spread the message to others to learn more about the City of Hope.”
