Ray Booth Introduces Tectonic Collection with Hickory Chair at Spring High Point Market

Furniture World News Desk on 4/27/2025

Architectural and interior designer Ray Booth® will debut his fourth furniture collection in partnership with Hickory Chair at the Spring 2025 International Home Furnishings Market in High Point. The new Tectonic Collection builds on Booth’s previous work with a focus on lighter forms and a more relaxed design language, while continuing to emphasize architectural structure and craftsmanship.

Inspired by the intersection of construction, materials, and design, the collection includes a range of case goods and upholstery that prioritize both form and comfort. “We have truly infused comfort into every piece—it is expressed purely within the designs,” said Booth.

Pieces in the collection include chairs, tables, sofas, dressers, and upholstered bed frames. Each is designed with Booth’s characteristic attention to architectural lines and proportion. A newly developed low-sheen oak finish adds to the softer aesthetic. “Ray’s new introductions reflect a less formal, lighter quality,” said Megan Barrett, VP of Merchandising for Hickory Chair.

One example of the collection’s versatility is the Rylen Sofa, designed with an angular silhouette to support flexible room layouts in both traditional and open-plan spaces. Additional design details include browned steel and antique brass hardware, reeded edges on tables, and channel quilted upholstery, echoing Booth’s architectural approach to interiors.

“There is a clarity to these designs that feels fresh and different,” Booth said. “I believe these pieces will inspire new ways of thinking about interiors.” He added, “Drawing from my architectural and interiors experience, I conceived these pieces from the inside out, with comfort designed into every detail – where structure and support are as integral as style. Beauty starts from within, ensuring that each piece feels as good as it looks.”

This new collection reflects a continued evolution in Booth’s collaboration with Hickory Chair, offering design elements that are intended to feel both refined and relaxed. “Between my architectural training and how I approach design, it’s easy to think in straight lines,” Booth said. “It’s good to break the rules now and then.”

“My partnership with Hickory Chair has been such a joy. As a designer, I love delving into the historical elements of design. Working with them has deepened my appreciation for the level of care and craftsmanship they bring to every piece. Their commitment to design, quality, and comfort is unmatched.”
