City of Hope Golf & Tennis Tournament and Dinner Raises $1.4 Million To Fund Research & Treatment

On June 9, 2014 at Coto de Caza Country Club in Southern California, hundreds of Furniture Industry executives enjoyed a very successful City of Hope Golf & Tennis Tournament and dinner honoring George Tsai, Chairman and Jason Liu, CEO of Fairmont Designs. These pioneering executives were awarded the National Home Furnishings Industry’s Lifetime Achievement Award, as their peers gathered at the Industry’s premier philanthropic event on the West Coast.

Attendees came from all over the United States, and breaking all records for this event, raised over $1,400,000 for City of Hope. With Tsai’s influence and perseverance he was able to secure international donations and advocate for City of Hope around the world. Tsai and Liu were accompanied by their wives and families as they celebrated the campaign and expressed their honor to be selected for this award in 2014.

Led by co-chairs, Neil Friedman, Larry Furiani, Michael Gennet, Rick Powell, Chuck Reilly and Debra Tous, this compassionate group of committee members meets monthly to produce one of the top-notch fundraising golf events for City of Hope. Every member had a hand in the planning and successful event.

19-year old cancer survivor, Athena Miller sang the National Anthem while Fairmont Designs employee from Texas, Melissa Shaw, moved the audience as she spoke of her successful treatment at City of Hope for Type 1 Diabetes.
