Boyles Furniture & Rugs Closing Connecticut Store

Furniture World News Desk on 11/3/2015

Boyles Furniture & Rugs announced the closing of its Avon, Connecticut showroom. The Company has received a significant amount of interest in the real estate and has decided to sell the property and focus on their successful North Carolina locations. The 22,000 square foot store, located 20 minutes west of Hartford Connecticut, will begin its store closing sale on Thursday, November 5th.

Three years ago the 65 year old Boyles brand was re-launched via a partnership between longtime owners, the Hendricks Family, and a group of investor’s led by Furniture Hall of Fame inductee, Gene Rosenberg.

“We initially opened two locations, Avon and the Mocksville, NC store. While the CT store initially outperformed our projections, we haven’t experienced the growth in sales that we had hoped for. The building is located in a prime real estate market, so, we have decided to sell the property and reinvest the proceeds in our hub area near Mocksville, North Carolina.” said Gene Rosenberg, Chairman of the Board, Boyles Furniture & Rugs.

“We have some exciting initiatives underway and our team is getting geared up to execute our long term growth plans. Rechanneling the cash flow from the CT real estate will help us focus on our plan. While closing the Avon store may seem unfortunate, it’s really the best thing we can do at this time.” Mr. Rosenberg noted when discussing Boyles future plans, “Boyles is a very strong company with a bright future, we’ve got a strong balance sheet, a solid business model, amazing employees and a large group of loyal customers that is expanding.”
