Smith Business Solutions to Close Remaining Quebec Ashley Furniture HomeStore Locations

Smith Business Solutions recently announced that they will be closing the three remaining Ashley Furniture HomeStore locations in the province of Quebec. The remaining locations are currently being liquidated as the company advertises a Store Closing Sale. This comes on the heels of the company seeking court-ordered protection under the Companies Creditors Arrangement Act (CCAA) in June.
 
Michael Smith, founder and CEO of Smith Business Solutions, a London Ontario based retail consulting company has confirmed that the asset purchase was awarded to his company and they are now conducting the Store Closing Sale in Laval, St Jerome and St Hubert. The Store Closing Sale included a fourth location – St Leonard – which has since closed. The sale began on July 17th and plans to run through to the end of October.

The Quebec locations were operated by Groupe Opex out of Laval which is owned by Groupe Marchand. “In June they sought creditor protection as a result of the declining retail market and challenges competing with the evolving online market” Smith says. “We plan to have the remaining three showrooms and 50,000 square foot Distribution Centre completely liquidated by the end of October.”
