Hooker Furniture to Spotlight New Club Chairs & Stationary Upholstery Pieces at High Point Market

Furniture World News Desk on 10/13/2020

With a focus on driving “item business” on the retail floor, Hooker Upholstery announced that it is launching a medley of new club chairs and stationary upholstery styles this fall. The new pieces address several consumer trends that the company has been tracking over the last several seasons: a more eclectic approach to design and casually comfortable styles that create a relaxed look without overwhelming the consumer.

The pieces – ranging from swivel chairs to club chairs to stationary sofas and sectionals – are available in a variety of colors, providing just enough choice, without becoming overwhelming. A broad range of sizes, styles and price points are available, allowing consumers to create an upholstery setting with a curated mix of pieces, rather than a coordinated group. The smaller scaling and versatility of the new club chair and swivel chair offerings are also suitable for use in many other areas of the home including bedrooms, foyers and home offices, according to Mike Harris, vice president of sales for Hooker Furniture.

“Hooker Upholstery has been very successful with our item business historically and while we’ve successfully expanded our product line recently to include collections and programs, we don’t want to depart from our roots as an item-based business,” Harris added. “Our retailers rely on us for our robust item-based portfolio and this fall we are making a very strong statement with pieces that include a mixture of textures, materials, styles and colors that will help our dealers create beautiful retail vignettes that consumers can recreate in their own homes.

“This strategy helps our retail partners sell more products while giving consumers more choice, without becoming too overwhelming,” he continued.
Addressing comfort in the club chair category, new introductions include a sling chair with sling-style backs and leather sling arms. Designed with a variety of unique materials and design elements, this piece includes metal hardware and an exposed wood frame.

Eight new swivel chairs will join the lineup in a variety of styles ranging from traditional barrel-back silhouettes to more modern styles with sleek angles. An assortment of mixed materials including leather, exposed wood arms and metal bases have been incorporated into the pieces to support the growing popularity of the eclectic designs.

In addition, four of the company’s best-selling club chairs – including Jilian, Kato, Maya and Potter – will now be available as swivel chairs in a choice of two leather colors. Consumer-friendly hang tags will be available for each chair showing the leathers and styles available.

Stationary upholstery introductions have a strong focus on casually comfortable styles with six new silhouettes. Ranging from transitional to contemporary with price points in the good, better and best categories, styles include sofas and a sectional option. Several frames were designed with deep-seating and over-stuffed, loose cushions to create a very relaxed look and feel.

All of the new pieces will be on display at Hooker Upholstery’s High Point showroom, space C-1058 of the International Home Furnishings Center.
