The Sustainable Furnishings Council announced that Lyndon Furniture, maker of fine, sustainable (eco-friendly) hardwood furniture, has joined the Sustainable Furnishings Council (SFC).  SFC president Jeff Hiller says, “ Lyndon Furniture's commitment to sustainability and environmental practices has been at the foundation of this Vermont company throughout their history.  Purchasing from local forestry sources and utilizing  significant energy efficiencies are among their best, longstanding  practices.  We are proud to have them as a member.”

Lyndon Furniture and owner, David Allard, are celebrating 30 Years of Craftsmanship in the Northeast Kingdom of Vermont. The celebration begins with the launching of their new website and introduction of 25 newly designed pieces.  Lyndon began hosting special events for their valued retailers starting in January and will continue  throughout 2011.  Store owners from all over the country will attend the events which will include factory tours, workshops, one-on- one product education, and personal introductions to the new designs for 2011.

Lyndon continues to be a flourishing business despite the recent economic instability.  Their success has allowed them to expand their workforce by approximately 15% and promote several long term employees to key positions within the company.  With continuous growth, comes greater environmental and economic responsibility.  These long-standing sentiments have recently prompted Lyndon’s acceptance to the Sustainable Furnishings Council.   http://www.sustainablefurnishings.org

Company  History: David Allard built his first woodworking shop 30 years ago with timber he cut from his father’s property in Lyndon, Vermont.  Over the years there have been seven additions to the original 30’ x 60’ floor plan.  Lyndon Furniture has grown from being one man in a small furniture shop to a business with 65 employees in three factories in Vermont’s Northeast Kingdom, presently shipping its handcrafted furniture throughout the United States and other various parts of the world.
